Wentworth Golf Club
The Wentworth Golf Club is located in Orange in the Central West Region of New South Wales approximately 260km from Syndey. Orange is a major provincial centre and due to its cool climate, altitude and reliable rainfall, is a major wine-growing area.
Wentworth Golf Club has been known as the 'Friendly Club' since its inception in 1965 when the locals began to turn a paddock into a golf course by removing trees, blasting out stumps and carrying buckets to pick up rocks from the fairway, turning the area into an eighteen hole golf course with twenty two sand bunkers, three dams and a small pine forest.
The vibrant autumn foliage makes Orange a very popular destination in the cooler seasons and host to Food Of Orange District Week at this time.
Once called Blackman's Creek, Orange was renamed in honour of Prince William of Orange and is also well-known as the birthplace of one of Australia's most famous bush poets, Banjo Paterson.
